Spotting the signals. Managing the journey. Improving the small things that compound.

I bring nearly 30 years of practical website, ecommerce and digital marketing experience — combining strategy, content, UX, analytics, AI-assisted workflows and hands-on delivery.

My strength is not just knowing one platform or one tactic. It is seeing how the message, page, campaign, data, customer journey and commercial outcome all connect.

The fit

This role needs someone who can think commercially, communicate clearly and still dive into the detail.

That is the overlap I bring: enough experience to step back and see the strategy, but enough hands-on delivery to improve the actual page, journey, content, tracking, process or campaign.

What I would bring

A practical mix of marketing judgement, website experience and delivery discipline.

1 Signals

Spotting what is really happening

I look for patterns in search terms, page behaviour, enquiries, content gaps, customer hesitation and where the journey starts to lose people.

2 Journey

Managing the whole journey

From first click to landing page, content, proof, enquiry, sale, follow-up and measurement — the whole journey has to make sense.

3 Gains

Small changes that compound

Better headings, stronger CTAs, clearer proof, tighter journeys and cleaner tracking can make a meaningful difference over time.

4 Action

Strategy, then dive in

I can plan, prioritise and explain the work — but I am also happy getting into the content, structure, data and implementation.

Spotting signals

Good digital marketing often starts with noticing the clues others miss.

The useful signals are usually already there.

They appear in analytics, search terms, abandoned journeys, weak enquiries, awkward page layouts, customer questions, sales feedback and the parts of a website people ignore.

My job is to turn those signals into clearer pages, better campaigns, stronger content and more confident next steps.

Search behaviour What people are actually looking for, the phrases they use, and whether the page answers that intent quickly enough.
Page behaviour Where visitors hesitate, bounce, scroll past important content, miss the CTA or fail to understand the offer.
Lead quality Whether the enquiries are relevant, informed and worth pursuing — or whether the page is attracting the wrong type of visitor.
Commercial friction Pricing concerns, lack of reassurance, unclear delivery, weak proof, poor product structure or an awkward checkout/contact route.
Workflow gaps Where content, data collection, internal follow-up, reporting or campaign setup can be made more consistent and less error-prone.
Managing the whole journey

A campaign is not just the ad. A website is not just the page. The journey has to join up.

I think about the whole path: what someone sees first, what they need to understand, what builds confidence, what removes doubt, what action they should take and how we measure whether it worked.

1. First signal Search, ad, social, email, referral or direct visit.
2. First impression The headline, offer, visual confidence and whether the page feels relevant.
3. Trust and clarity Proof, examples, benefits, FAQs, pricing cues and reassurance.
4. Action route Form, phone call, basket, checkout, brochure request or next-step CTA.
5. Measurement GA4, Search Console, Google Ads, conversion tracking and real feedback.
Small changes that compound

Marginal gains matter because most websites do not fail in one dramatic place.

They usually leak confidence in lots of small ways.

The heading is slightly vague. The next step is slightly hidden. The proof is slightly weak. The mobile layout is slightly awkward. The form is slightly too much. The tracking is slightly incomplete.

Improve enough of those small points and the whole journey starts to feel clearer, sharper and more commercially useful.

✓ Sharper above-the-fold message so visitors understand the offer immediately.
✓ Better section order so the page answers questions in the right sequence.
✓ Stronger trust proof, examples, reviews, case studies and credibility cues.
✓ Cleaner CTAs so the next step is obvious without feeling pushy.
✓ Improved tracking so campaign and website decisions are based on evidence.
✓ More consistent processes so content, campaigns and follow-up become easier to manage.
Strategy and dive-in delivery

I can step back to see the system, then get close enough to improve the detail.

Step back: strategy

I look at the business goal, audience, offer, competitors, search intent, customer objections, current data and the journey from first impression to action.

That helps prioritise the work properly instead of simply changing things because they look dated or because someone has a hunch.

Dive in: delivery

I am comfortable getting into page structure, copy, UX, SEO basics, analytics, ecommerce journeys, Google Ads landing pages, content planning and implementation detail.

That means strategy does not stay theoretical. It becomes a better page, a cleaner journey, a stronger campaign or a more useful workflow.

Competencies for the role

The role needs someone who can connect creative, analytical and operational thinking.

Content and messaging

I can shape content around the audience, the offer and the action required — making pages easier to scan, understand and respond to.

Customer journey and UX

I can identify where users lose confidence, where the page is unclear and where the next step needs to be more obvious.

Campaign and landing page thinking

I understand how pages need to match intent from search, ads, emails, social and referral traffic.

SEO, analytics and evidence

I use Search Console, GA4, Google Ads data and practical observation to guide better decisions.

AI-assisted workflow

I am actively testing AI tools to speed up research, structure ideas, improve consistency and reduce avoidable errors.

Client and stakeholder communication

I am used to explaining digital problems clearly to business owners, clients, developers and non-technical teams.

Evidence and experience

Serious hands-on experience — from SMEs to national brands and campaign-led work.

Recognised names, real delivery.

Alongside long-term SME and ecommerce work, I have also been involved in campaign-led digital delivery connected to recognised consumer brands and organisations.

Complex stakeholder projects Delivered website and training work for organisations including Age UK, Church of England dioceses, local authority/community projects and industrial businesses where clarity and trust matter.
AI tools and workflow improvement

I am experimenting with AI to improve speed, creativity, consistency and quality control.

I do not see AI as a replacement for judgement. I see it as a way to research faster, structure better, test ideas, improve workflows, reduce blank-page time and catch things that might otherwise be missed.

The reason I think I fit

I can bring maturity, curiosity and practical digital judgement into a role that needs more than surface-level marketing.

I understand websites, content, customer journeys, ecommerce, campaigns, analytics, AI workflow and client communication. More importantly, I understand how small improvements across all of those areas can compound into better outcomes.
